Our nursery at West Bridgford took part in National Storytelling Week last week.
National Storytelling Week is an event held by the Society for Storytelling, which promotes the benefits reading has on society, and aims to encourage people of all ages to pick up a book and start reading!
Throughout the week, children at the nursery took part in lots of storytelling activities.
Lots of lovely stories have been read to the children all week, and all the children really enjoyed looking at a wide range of books and taking part in activities related to their favourite stories.
The Under 2’s read stories and looked at favourite books. Toddlers looked at a different story each day and engaged in activities to do with the book for that day. Pre school enjoyed looking at their favourite stories and chose Zog to draw pictures from and created his castle to explore.
Reading is a great way for children to improve their speech and grammar, and storytelling really helps to stimulate their imagination and creative development.
