Also just wanted to say what a fantastic show you guys put on, on Tuesday, and such a generous spread afterwards for the kids and the parents, and then all the fun that was had with the entertainment! Well done and thank you

Thank you for all that you have done for Neve over the last 3 years. You have helped to shape her into the crazy and caring little monkey that she is. Neve is going to miss you all so much. You all work so hard and all the children are very lucky to have you in their lives.

Thank you for helping Max with his speech and development since he joined you. He comes home full of enthusiasm for the activities he has undertaken at nursery and talks about you all. We have been thrilled that he has been so settled and happy here.

We can’t thank you enough for the care and interest you have shown to Alfred over the last 4 years. You all do an amazing job. Thank you so much, I know he will miss you.

Rayna and Chloe are so lovely and have made both of my boy’s time at Alphabet House extra special. Well done both you of you!

West Bridgford Alphabet House

This nursery really does have everything!  If you’re looking for a quiet, rural location where you can drop off and collect your child easily, which has fabulous facilities and staff, then this nursery is for you.

We boast a huge Under 2’s room, with a separate sleeping area, managed by staff who are specifically baby room trained, and have all worked at the nursery for well over ten years.

Our outside space is second to none: a large grassed garden for letting off steam and ball games, a climbing wall, a mud kitchen, balancing equipment, a wigwam in the summer with hammocks and dens, a huge sandpit along with two soft surface areas with climbing equipment and areas for when the weather is wet. The children love to play outside, and we use our different areas for all the children as much as possible.

Healthy eating learning is essential at our nursery, and we have our very own fully working ‘child size’ kitchen. We regularly cook and bake in here with the help of Tracy our nursery cook.  The children, where appropriate, learn cutting and chopping skills, weigh and measure, identify different foods and then create wonderful stir fries on our mini hob!

This is just a taste of the experiences your child could have at our nursery, what we can promise you is that no two days are ever the same.

The nursery is on Adbolton Lane, in the Lady Bay area of West Bridgford, surrounded by countryside, in between West Bridgford and the Water Sports Centre.

We are open from 7.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday

We are OFSTED registered and our latest inspection which rated us as Good is available here.

Additional activities are on offer are:

  • Yoga with Mama Baby Bliss
  • French classes with Jaqueline
  • Music and movement with Lauren
  • Forest Schools with Paul in the orchard

Staff at West Bridgford

Our staff at nursery are dedicated to providing a happy and safe environment for all the children. All our staff are carefully chosen not only for their experience and qualifications but also for their professional knowledge and to show commitment and empathy to children in their care.

Many have been with us for several years and so not only offer continuity for your child, but are also more mature and have extensive childcare experience as well. In each room the required amount of qualified nursery nurses are supplemented by trainee nursery nurses. All staff to child ratios are always met and often exceeded.

Staff, where possible remain constant, operating a ‘Key Worker’ system. This is when each child is allocated to a member of staff to provide a link between the parents and child. They will be largely responsible for settling them into nursery, their day to day care and communicating with the parents about their child’s development. This enables the member of staff to develop close relationships with children in their care.

At Alphabet House we are constantly developing, and this largely includes our staff.  Training is very important to us and we offer in-house such as First Aid and Food Hygiene courses and external training, for example specific Baby age group, Language, SEN courses. We support many of our staff to further their knowledge and skills through training and by adding to their qualifications and skill set.

Kelly Bell – Nursery Manager

I decided to begin my career after helping out as a parent at my son’s nursery school, and saw the rewards of working with children.

I now have over 17 year’s experience, as well as a BTEC national diploma in childcare and qualifications covering first aid, food hygiene and child protection.

Most importantly, I have a passion for helping children develop, and having worked my way up from a nursery nurse, I now manage a thriving nursery with happy children and caring staff.
